The Cat
In an unspecified time and in a place familiarly abstract, a young woman struggles to break the invisible chains that keep her emotionally inert, wavering between real life and daily routine. “The Cat” is the story of a woman who is experiencing adulthood as a desperate attempt to free herself from the family environment. Anastasia Anagnostopoulou in her first short film gives a subtle contemplative narration of the small personal battles of everyday life. However, this woman’s fight against her family’s unfulfilled past is, at the same time, a symbolic dive into modern female psyche, which under the pressure of multiple social roles and the guise of gender equality creates a chaotic deadlock in female relationships.
