Director Biography - Cassandra Riddick

Cassandra “Cass” Riddick is an independent film maker based in Washington DC. It all began in 1988, a brief encounter with Hip Hop artist Biz Markie that helped to spark Cassandra's creative fire in the entertainment business.

In 1993, Cassandra began working at the C SPAN networks as a studio technician and master control operator. Two years later, she produced her first homecoming concert at Howard University. Cass began promoting chart-topping Hip-Hop and R&B artists from the 1990's to early 2000's. She was instrumental in helping Biz Markie re-launch his career as a legendary DJ/Rapper.

Cassandra became personal manager for major recording artist, Akinyele and she worked for the late legendary Hip Hop DJ/Producer Jam Master Jay at the time multi-platinum recording artist 50 Cent was an artist on the label.

In 2006, Cass was one of the top ten finalists for the BET Network/Kaiser Rap-It-Up Short Film Screen Writing Competition. Cass worked on the award-winning feature film H.O.M.E. starring Jeremy Ray Valdez, winner of the Best Feature at the Queens International Film Festival in 2016, and Lalo winner of The Best Comedy Short Competition at the HBO Latino Film Festival and the Los Angeles Film Festival, (2010).

Cass served as Co-Producer of the award-winning Sci-Fi film Alienated. It won multiple awards and was ranked in the top 10 on IMDB’s top Sci-Fi Films of 2016.

Cassandra holds a B.S in Communications from Bowie State University.

Director Statement

I have always found teamwork the most vital part of filmmaking. The movie Six2Six, involved a lot of moving parts. The cast and crew were all invested in getting the project in the can. We thought we would be ready to submit the film in 2016, but unfortunately the edit was incomplete. After, finding someone who would accept the rate I could pay, the final edit was complete. That's what I call a labor of love.
