Writer Biography - Jeffrey Hirschberg

After graduating with degrees from Cornell and Syracuse University's Newhouse School, Jeffrey foolishly worked in marketing — culminating in a soul-crushing job on Wall Street. Drained from using the word “synergy,” he became a film professor, wrote a book on heroes and villains in film, and directed short films and a TV pilot that screened at major festivals. A WGA member, Jeffrey previously sold a project to Showtime, was a winner of the WGA Screenplay Reading Series, and participated in the ABC Daytime Writer Development Program. His debut novel — COMPLETELY INCOMPLETE — arrives next year.

Writer Statement

Most of my screenplays have been adult-themed comedies. When I had kids, it was a no-brainer to write a story the whole family could enjoy – a proverbial “four-quadrant” film.

As a former marketing executive, it was equally a no-brainer to build a story around an advertising agency – incorporating the best (and worst) of corporate and pop culture.
