"Corps et Terre" (Body and Earth) emerged from the actions of the grape harvest at an organic vineyard near Gaillac in France. After working with the vendangeurs (harvesters) for a couple of mornings, I wanted to honor their labor through choreography inspired by their gestures, the rolling of the wine press, and the atmosphere of the vine. A couple of mysterious characters emerge in the video, spirits of the vineyard, perhaps.
Stephen Buck did the camera work, and we edited the piece together.
