Born in 1987 to government servant parents, Konarak Mukherjee was introduced to the world of literary fiction from an early age by his librarian mother. The inclination for storytelling took root early on but the intention of coming into the world of movie-making didn’t come to the forefront until he was moved drastically by Anthony Minghella’s ‘The English Patient’. Upon completing his Bachelor’s Degree with Economics Hons. From Presidency Collage, he started directing short fictions and documentaries and editing television programs as a freelancer. He also had the opportunity to assist noted documentary movie-maker Soumitra Dastidar and organize several documentary festivals in his hometown of Kolkata. In 2011, in order to learn the craft in more details, he enrolled in Roopkala Kendro, a Film and Social Communication Institute under the Department of Information and Cultural Affairs, Government of West Bengal. He studied direction and screen-writing and has completed his diploma course. He is presently in the process of making his first feature-length movie.
