What do you look for when looking for a project?
This project was an assignment part of my university course and I had a specific briefing to follow. Making a horror short film was the concept released to the film students in my course.
I started then looking for inspiration and of course studying the subject matter.
What is the best thing about your role?
This was my 4th time directing on set on a short film and I think the best thing of direction is the energy that you as a leader give to the others, Cast and Crew and not only but to everyone involved in the project. If you are positive, professional and responsible everyone else will try to be the same.
What is the toughest thing about getting a project done?
I think the toughest thing about getting a project done is being happy of what you’ve done in the end. When I’m 100% happy of what I am looking at I know for sure that the project is ‘almost’ ready.
What do you feel is missing in entertainment today?
I wanted to create an Art film that would describe my thoughts, inspiration and certain beliefs. I wanted to create something very original, starting from the music selection, lighting and color palette and the digital process made it in postproduction. I don’t think anything is missing in entertainment today as I think that there is too much entertainment nowadays and less originality. Art film is a different form of art and expression that differentiates from entertainment, as an Art film is most of the time the complete resolution of the author’s emotions, technique and expression without most of the restrictions that the entertainment has, as it follows different mechanism about Popular Culture and its audience.
How important is social media for promoting your projects?
Social media are an important way to promote projects in general. The web community grows everyday, and every day has new rules and different things that you should know to stay on the loop.
Social media are also a good alternative for emerging artists or small business who cannot afford time or expenses for a proper website or a marketing campaign.
A good and appropriate use of Socials Media can help the artist promoting himself and its projects at best levels.
What do you love about directing?
Directing and producing is communication, leadership, organization and most of all being able to put other creative minds together and guide them to bring your idea to life.
