Torn explores a theme of relationships, and how family can cloud one’s decision-making process. It elucidates the rollercoaster of emotions and the struggle a middle-aged man has to deal with in making an important decision – one that could potentially alter his life forever. Decision-making is part of life; one will always be at a certain point in their life, faced with two diverging roads in the woods, deciding which path to take, knowing that they will not have the opportunity to ever take the other path. Torn illustrates this message seen in other famous works such as Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken”, and embodies this message, leaving the audience to decide for themselves whether forgiving his brother is the right path to be travelled by.
