Briana was born and raised in Kingston, Ontario. Every Friday night, her parents would order Dominos pizza and stop off at the local Blockbuster to decide on a couple of films to pick up. Instead of choosing the action thrillers and romantic comedies that her family adored, Briana soon realized that her taste ran to more obscure art-house fare. She would watch her movies alone on the second television downstairs in the basement. Briana watched films she would soon idolize including ‘Fat Girl’, ‘Fish Tank’ and most of the Lars Von Trier oeuvre. Upon graduating high school, Briana enrolled in Trent University’s Cultural Studies Program where she soon fell under the influence of Polish drama-teacher Magdalena Kazabouski-Houston. Taking her third year abroad in Australia, Briana participated in a three-week acting intensive program at Sydney’s world-renowned National Institute of Dramatic Arts. There she gained acting coaching for the stage and screen. Returning to Canada, Briana began making short experimental films through continuing education media courses. After graduating from Trent, she moved to Toronto and completed Ryerson University's three-month Summer Film Intensive. She now works as a professional grip in the television and film industry but continues to shoot her own films.
