SOUND
Despite the seemingly daily reports of yet another victim succumbing to suicide as a way out of bullying, society continues to become more and more desensitized to it. SOUND is a fictional story of one boy's tragic decision to confront his bully--by becoming a bully himself and having the last word. It is a cautionary tale of what could happen if we continue to close our ears to the spoken violence that dehumanizes everyone involved--bullies and victims alike. SOUND reminds us that bullies are not born; they are made. SOUND also shows how bullying produces no winners: everyone loses.

Aguilar has been a Carmelite Roman Catholic priest for over 20 years. He has ministered in high schools in Los Angeles, CA and Chicago, IL as both a teacher and an administrator. Padre, as he is called by his students and colleagues, is also one of the founding directors of the Caravan Alley Players at Mount Carmel High School (Chicago). He has directed over 20 theatrical and musical productions. A trained social worker, Padre believes that one must reverence a person's story—joys and pains alike. His life experiences and interactions with others have inspired him to create stories that capture the messiness of everyday life. Along with a host of his students, he has authored five stage plays and the book to one musical.
The creation of art is truly an experience of untainted freedom. It is an experience of the Divine.
