Dissatisfied as a journalism major, Joshua DeFour made filmmaking a sacrifice worth frighting for--dropping out of college in 2010 to enlist in the U.S. Marine Corps as a combat videographer.
He was stationed on mainland Japan in 2012, and was later deployed to Afghanistan for one year, as well as spending time in Bangladesh, Thailand, Guam, and Tinian, documenting and producing video news stories on everything from humanitarian relief projects to combat operations missions. He completed his bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts Amherst before exiting the service in March 2014.
Joshua was then hired by Fathead, LLC., as a social media marketing manager, where he shot and directed collaborative video spots with Warner Bros. Pictures in support of Harry Potter, and a Father’s Day military veterans feature in conjunction with Operation Homefront.
He currently attends the University of Texas at Austin for an MFA in Film & Media Production.
