The Legend of Yakatutch

When hunters are found in the Canadian wilderness with their hearts torn out, a young First Nations man learns he is descended from a legendary creature, and must embrace his mother’s heritage in order to stop it, before it finds civilisation.

Writer Biography - Sean Francis Ellis

Sean began making films at age 11, while growing up in Sydney, Melbourne and Hong Kong. He attended the Victorian College of the Arts School of Film and Television, in Melbourne Australia, and graduated with a Bachelor of Film and Television Degree.

Sean has worked on features in Australia and the US, as an Assistant Director and Production Assistant, since 1995, while continuing to write and direct short films. Sean has written several feature screenplays, including "The China Club", "Claws", "The Legend of Yakatutch" and "Shadow Men" (co-written with Kent Hill).

In 2006, Sean interned with production companies in Los Angeles, writing coverage and learning the studio development process. Sean also worked as an Assistant for Larger Than Life Productions on the Universal Studios lot. During this time, Sean frequented screenwriting workshops, seminars and pitch festivals, gathering valuable insight and pitching his projects to studios and production companies.

Sean's third screenplay, "Claws", was a finalist in the Beverly Hills Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, in 2010. Also that year, Sean wrote, directed and produced a 10-minute proof-of-concept film, based on the feature screenplay. "Claws" premiered at "Renovation 2011" - the 69th World Science Fiction Convention, in Reno, Nevada.

In 2014, "The Legend of Yakatutch" was selected for the 3-D Content Financing Market in Liege, Belgium, and awarded Best Project & Pitch by a panel of international judges, during the 3-D Stereo Media Summit.

Sean completed a short Crime-Thriller screenplay, "Angel Dust", in 2015, and continues developing shorts and features in various genres.

"The Legend of Yakatutch" takes the popular ‘monster-on-the-loose’ concept of hit movies like "Predator", "Jurassic Park" and "King Kong", and mixes exciting new characters and settings that will attract the genre’s established audience, while adding a compelling new monster to the ranks of Hollywood’s most popular creatures.
