Substitute Culture
WE ARE ONLY WHO THEY SAY WE ARE.
Elfman is a Queen OD'd on society. Jamie is the Twink he's forever in love with. And Nico is the Het he just found him in bed with. With his identity in crisis, Elfman must salvage this shattered romance.
So begins Elfman's sting operation to debunk their dating rituals and win back his misplaced lover. Along the way he encounters an Offline Lurker, a Caffeinated Irregular and the Barista Darling of the social scene he's trying to extinguish. And what he finds is that these new chosen fashions may not just be fashions.
Set and shot in Cambridge Massachusetts, Substitute Culture follows five indie-somethings as they fight to remain relevant in an ever-changing underground.

"If I could compose myself of idolized traits I would have the absurdity of Steve Martin, the aesthetic of Amanda Palmer, the agitation of Marc Maron, the hallucinations of Satoshi Kon, the posture of Richard Lewis, the audacity of Paul Westerberg, the eloquence of Richard Pryor and the intentions of Anne Magnuson. Wait a moment … I HAVE composed myself of all those traits. And I believe its called 'ripping off.'”
