Roey's uncle, Captain Amnon, was killed in the battle field in an attempt to rescue his commander during the Yom Kipur war.
Roey's father, Nimrod, is the son of holocaust survivors, started his military service at Sayeret Matkal and fought the wars in Israel. He was discharged from the army with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Roey is the youngest of three brothers.
HIs older brothers also served in the army as commanders and fighters in elite units.
Roey's parents brought them up on love of the country, values and contribution.
Roey was drafted to the IDF and served as a fighter and commander with the rank of captain in the elite unit - 669.
He chose to pass on the spirit of the state of Israel to its youngsters by founding The Pathway in order to establish his own way of passing on the importance of military service in the IDF.
This is a story about an Israeli family that sadness and bereavement are an integral part, but also life, hope and dedication.
