YOINOBODARA

The story takes place in Edo era at exotic Japan, which did not have the seclusion policy.
One night, one jolly samurai and solemn samurai meet at the bar, and start a duel.
A silent-film of comedy, Chambara, shot by full 8mm film.

*YOINOBODARA means that ' dried cod at dusk ' in Japanese.
Although dried cod is the food, it has a different meaning ' drunken man ' in a very old word.

Yoshiyuki Shimada
Film Director / designer

Born in Tokyo Japan in 1986.
He learned 3DCG, shooting, motion graphics at University.
Studied abroad to UK, specialize in Fin art, graphic design and VFX.
After graduation, through CG Productions and design company, independence in 2013.
Activity in a wide range of fields As a Film Director and designer.

Camera, 3DCG, VFX, motion graphics, VJ, Graphic design,
Instaration, Space design...
Mainly work on TV, CM, Music Video.

Director Statement

Hello, Thank you for watching my film.

All footage of this film have been shot by 8mm film (Super 8).

Usually, I work in commercial or music video, using digital camera, sometimes 4K camera.
This is first time of film shooting for me.
Why I have chosen Super8?
Because, many great film directors when they were young, they used to use 8mm cameras,
Thats why I wanted to experience origin of film making and what they felt.
Then I tried old style.

This is independent Film. There is no sponcer.
All of Production fee is my pocket money.
Music and shooting staff, I asked friends. However, almost made by myself.
Story Writing, Direction, Scheduling, Casting, Location hanting, Costume, props, Cinematographer, Editing, VFX, Sound Effects, Poster Design, Website design.
Why I works alot is no money but enjoying film making!

By the way, I have shot by Digital camera as well. Its revival version of YOINOBODARA.
