Toves daughter Hanne force her mom to set the house at the market and want her to accept moveing into a retirement home. Tove make her own arrangement and let a young couple of illegal refugees live in her home with succes. - But everything is at stake as Hanne work as civil servent in social controll and Toves secret most be hidden for her. (Its the normal way in north european culture not to live with old family members as the culture focus on individuals before the family. As well the state many working like Hanne. Actually Hanne can loose her job, Tove come in jail and the illegal refugees sent back to a place where they can get killed
Immigrants and refugees is here as well a metaphor for the things we haven't met and therefore are scared about.
