MIQVA: The Web Series
Juan is a single 30 year-old guy who is forced to attend a family event accompanied by a boyfriend. “I imagine you’re coming accompanied” (from which the acronym “MIQVA” stands for in Spanish), is what his mother says to him, as she tries to accept the fact that her son is homosexual, and not conceiving in her heteronormative paradigm the fact that her son is in his thirties and still single. On the rush to avoid trouble and judgements, he hires an escort to accompany him to the party, and gathers his friends on a Friday night to tell them these news, and ask for advice. Through music, games, drinks and choreographies, they’ll discuss about progresses and limitations of gender perspective in Argentina, as they wait for the arrival of Juan’s purchased boyfriend. What are the arguments and opinions of people who belong to a generation who wasn’t allowed to get married?
