HANDI

The film is about a seven year old girl who comes from a middle class family, residing in Mumbai. Owing to her ill health, (Cardiac complications) she is unable to carry out day to day actives unlike other kids. She is confined to her house & is hence fascinated with the idea of celebrating the festival of ‘Janmashthami’ like other kids. Sensing her desire & her disappointment in being unable to fulfill it, her brother puts up a ‘Handi’, in the house.

Director Biography - SHARVARI S. PRABHU

Born & brought up in Mumbai, Sharvari S. Prabhu is a Clinical Psychologist. She is passionate about films and music. Her inclination to express through the audio-visual medium led her to pursue a Diploma in Social Communications Media with a specialization in Short Filmmaking. Additionally, she has completed a Diploma in Social Entrepreneurship. She has scripted a one act play ‘Tambi’ for an Intra-College festival at National College. She has also directed two short films - ‘Chintu’, ‘Handi’ & composed music for a documentary film ‘Breathe My Space’. She has composed & recorded a song as a part of the course in Music Composition & Direction from University of Mumbai. She has worked as a Creative Assistant for ‘The Anupam Kher Show’, Season 2. Sharvari is currently freelancing as a Psychologist & has been working as an Assistant Director on a documentary film ‘Pursuit of Passion’ directed by Dr Suyog Moon.
