Something about you

Nicholas lives in Melbourne. He is a theatre actor and one night he finds himself writing a letter. The last letter, which is addressed to his love. Written in those pages are the words that he has never said. He is writing to say his last goodbye to Sally.
They have been together for several years, living together in the same house. Sally was only 28 and was a painter. Some of her paintings were sold in order to pay for that studio they had been dreaming of. Same as for Nicholas, who had been working hard to put some money together for that house. He is 30. Sally and Nicholas meet on an autumn night on a tram stop. She is waiting for the tram. Nicholas seats next to her and sees that she is drawing a feather on a sketchbook.
He asks her for some explanations and she tells him that feathers have a special meaning for her because they are the expression of her freedom. They start talking and they get along until she lets him her number on the drawing she is working on. Their love story begins. They are young, beautiful and full of ambitions. They decide to live together in a studio. Things are perfect between them, but something great is coming to knock at Nicholas’ door. His acting company is ready to go on tour to Paris. It’s his great opportunity. Sally and Nicholas talk about this and, even if Sally is not fully convinced, she pushes him to go and to seize the moment. Things between them have worsen. They fight because Sally finds out that Nicholas has been in a relationship with an actress of his company. Guilty and freaked out, Nicholas slaps Sally and she disappears for a couple of days. When she comes back she is crying showing him a document in which is stated that Sally has been diagnosed with a Leukemia and she only has a year left.
Nicholas is shocked. He tries to find the best doctor for her. He tries to find a cure, but the answer is always the same. A year is gone and so is Sally.
He can’t believe it, he can’t live without her.
He needs a year before he can face the grief. He needs a year before he can write a letter to her telling what he had never said. He writes the letter on the back of the drawing she made of the feather the first day they met. At the end he goes where her grave is and he leaves the letter there.
