Lucas has just finished his third year at Manhattanville College and is working to complete his self designed major in film directing. His last film Flower had gotten good feedback and was nominated for Best Student Film at the Golden Door International Film Festival. He has been accepted into numerous local film festivals and won awards from the New York State Library for their video competition as well as from Rockland Community College in the high school category of their TV/Video Festival. He has worked on three of his own films since Flower and several other student projects working as Assistant Director and Director of Photography.
I created the character of "Doug" about two years ago. At the time, I personally had conflicting feelings about the idea of happiness. It wasn't until about a year later when I actually wrote the story that I realized what truly made me happy. As cliché as it may sound, it was the little things. Doug is the cynic, the realist, the genuine soul in all of us that wants so little in life and yet asks for so much.
