Director Statement

Since I was a child, I've been visiting my mother country of Bangladesh every summer. I was always intrigued by the stunning locations, interesting characters and wild stories of the land. After graduating NYU, I was adamant to leave the US for a few months to work on a film project in Bangladesh. After talking to real women whose husbands left them, I began to develop a script, at first out of anger and revenge. I wanted to do something, but the only power I had was filmmaking. So I used it, and developed Udhao. In a roller-coaster of a ride, we managed to enlist a great cinematographer, partner with investors from Sweden, cast wonderful actors and begin production. After many months, and countless sleepless hours of postproduction, we were finished. I am proud to call Udhao my first feature film. After doing most of the post-production in LA including live orchestra recording and sound mixing, I am eager to bridge the gap between Bangladesh and Hollywood.
