Born in Boston and raised in Philadelphia, Amit is a graduate of NYU’s film and dramatic writing program. He is an award-winning film director, animator and writer. He has been making movies for over ten years. Currently he is working between Bangladesh and US. He is developing an animation firm in Bangladesh to support larger projects designed for the international market.
Since I was a child, I've been visiting my mother country of Bangladesh every summer. I was always intrigued by the stunning locations, interesting characters and wild stories of the land. After graduating NYU, I was adamant to leave the US for a few months to work on a film project in Bangladesh. After talking to real women whose husbands left them, I began to develop a script, at first out of anger and revenge. I wanted to do something, but the only power I had was filmmaking. So I used it, and developed Udhao. In a roller-coaster of a ride, we managed to enlist a great cinematographer, partner with investors from Sweden, cast wonderful actors and begin production. After many months, and countless sleepless hours of postproduction, we were finished. I am proud to call Udhao my first feature film. After doing most of the post-production in LA including live orchestra recording and sound mixing, I am eager to bridge the gap between Bangladesh and Hollywood.
