Olivia Cauthen studied filmmaking at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX, where she found her passion in writing and filming very personal movies. She currently resides in Dallas, TX, where she is an active member of the film community. She can often be found eating too many Reese's cups and feeding the stray cats at her apartment complex.
Ten Years At Sea is my first feature-length film. Much like Provel cheese, it is heavily influenced by things that bear no similarity to it at all, like the films Uncle Buck and Bringing Up Baby, and the television show Mad Men. It's silly, incredibly naive and sort of intimate. I like small world stories. I like non-events and Ten Years At Sea is without a doubt a series of non-events. It's a brief look into the lives of a few very strange people.
