NAROPANISHATH
Adarsh, accidently kills his girlfriend on a train journey, jumps off the train & happens to takes refuge in a secluded bungalow of a blind girl. Catherine lost her parents early in childhood & her grand father, who was a well-known artist, was her only support until his death a few years ago. Her only help now is Kannan & family who live nearby. It is difficult for one to make out that Catherine is blind from how she conducts herself in & around the house. She puts her solitary life to good use & could train her senses well that others could only imagine. She could recognize minute sounds & scents in the surroundings & her innate ability helped her lead an independent life at home.
Around sunset, Adarsh, who comes grasping for breath, trips over the plant pot & hurts his hand. As he was trying to get in to room, un-noticed, he stopped to drink water from the pot. “It is not fair on your part to intrude in to my home when I am here “, exhorted Catherine. She accepts him as a guest in her solitary life. She provides him with her grandfather’s dress & allows him to stay back that night.
He was taken aback when she found out that he had killed his girlfriend. His attempt to steal fails as he couldn’t’ t find money or ornaments in the house. Thereafter, he tries to rape her and then aborts the act. The blind girl’s insight changed him forever.
By her knowledgeable words coated with love, he sees the world in a new light..
He realized that when one returns to humanity, it actually a return to music & peace.
Adarsh is by now fascinated to Catherine & wants to live together forever. Her reminder that the warm relationship that two people can maintain is that of ‘friendship’ only helped transform him to be more human. Deep down, Catherine was elevated to someone above a Guru or mentor ………
