Mehry Mu World

Mehry Mu; Istanbul's popular handbag brand that has a cult local and global following has released a fashion film that wanted to take the concept of 'East meets West' one step further.

The handbag brand which is known for its versatile and functional forms that incorporate Eastern touches such as hand stiching details, ikat lining and lucky symbols wanted to show that the inspiration does not stop in plain Eastern imagery.

Together with Asli Yilmazturk of @artsxdesign as creative director and producer, and Bora Tarhan as director, Mehry Mu founder and designer Gunes Mutlu set out to bring together elements that would represent an exotic and eclectic world that makes sense in a contemporary context, without being overly bohemian or ethnic.

The film takes a sneak peek into the lives of two women who symbolize an almost yin and yang relationship; one pure and feminine and the other more masculine and in posession of a dark side. These 2 characters in Lanvin and vintage Mugler are formed with the purpose of adding onto the Istanbul based brand's oriental roots, and emphasizing its contemporary side. Once that is established, enter the brand's exotic inspirations to give the story the texture it needs; the green Greek pattern wallpaper, the Moroccan setting, the whispering white cockatoo, crystal wine glasses, brass home accessories, the Sicilian head planter, banana trees, exotic fruits, the feathered fan and the twirling Japanese kimono all exude a mystical, sensual mood.
