Caroline Keman, filmmaker born in Amsterdam, was at an early age inspired by the films of Dutch director Bert Haanstra. Films purely based on its images and catching from beginning to end. After some film courses in Amsterdam, she decided to study abroad. In 2011 she graduated at the Prague Film School in ‘Documentary Filmmaking’.
Once she came back, she started studying ‘Audiovisual Media’ at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. This is where Paula and Caroline met each other and since then they are inseparable.
Leonard Retel Helmrich’s work is a source of inspiration for Paula Vonhof. He is both cinematographer and director, which is something she highly admires. Just like him, she prefers to shoot stylized images, which deepens the storyline. Before she applied to ‘Audiovisual Media’ at the HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, she studied graphic design at Grafisch Lyceum Utrecht.
