Hadas Yona is a bold young filmmakerז who lives in Jerusalem. She uses her creativity through film to deal with tough social issues. Her first documentary film was about a Haredi [ultra-orthodox] anorexic girl.
She learned at Ma’ale School of Film and Television, where she specialized in directing and film editing.
Hadas currently works as an editor for promotional films for the ultra-orthodox community.
I wanted to make a movie about helplessness, and during the writing process I started to write about the secret I’d been pushing away and denying for four years. Four years ago I was raped by a security guard who worked with me in a government building.
And so I started writing my fantasy, which is also the thing I am most afraid of. Through film I managed to deal with my own rape, with the hope that afterwards I’ll be able to breathe in that breath I’ve been holding for years.
