Folk Cinema - Cronosfera
Folk Cinema - Cronosfera is an experimental movie set in the unfinished dam of Blufi, province of Palermo (Sicily) connected to a PhD research in Anthropology of Sound that is promoting the whole area as a natural reserve. This space comes from a big international failed trade in the Eighties: actually the general amount of water flowing in the little river where the structures were built had never justified that natural devastation.
Nowadays the environment is going to re-integrate the huge amount of resonating spaces with the presence of various lifeforms that makes this place unique in the perspective of soundscape´s listening. The movie intent is to create an immersive listening space through quadraphonic audio in a fictional ethnographic approach: it is evident that the sound feature has a drastic influence on the visual path in all the eleven chapters of the movie focusing especially on the collective experience in playing music and objects in the resonant spaces in the first half of the movie, and in the listening experience in the second one. All actors were non-professional actors that - according to Folk Cinema manifesto - affected the narrative structure of the movie with personal biographical features.

Born in 1980.
After a long academic education I decided to continue to work independently on the concept developed first during the BA thesis in Ethnomusicology and then during the PhD research in Anthropology of Sound: the image-sound (immagine-suono), a development in acoustic terms of Deleuze's 'image-time' and Lacan's unconscious system. Actually I survive doing shiatsu, making films and working as a free-lance sound-designer for theatre, cinema and art-installations.
Folk Cinema officially born in 2007. It regards audiovisual compositions developed around common authorial instances in accordance to image-sound’s theory, and it is an attempt to reach unconscious processes editing a cinematic collective experience on sound’s narrative structures: so that Folk Cinema is somehow a method.
Since autumn 2017 I develop audiovisual contents for the Sicilian Shiatsu Academy.
Since autumn 2019 I'm working on the idea of eco-cultural centre called Folk Factory.
