KATHAKALI

Saijo Kannanaikkal (27 years) is a physically handicapped person certified with 60% disability. In 2007 his disability was 40% .He is suffering from Ankylosing Spondlitis. He had a very severe disease and had failed the first line treatment. Because of his ailment he had to discontinue his studies. The treatment of this deadly disease is very expensive (around 5-6 lakh/annum). His family is very poor. Though this disability has darkened his prime time of youth, he treated life with lot of confidence and enthusiasm. Due to hard work he was successful in achieving a government job and start two charitable societies, ALL IS WELL-charity federation for differently abled and ASIF- Ankylosing Spondilitis Indian Federation (patient federation) .Main objective of these societies was to gain confidence and conduct welfare activities through medias like short film, documentaries, music videos. This give awareness and information slowly to the society and to open the eyes of the concerned authorities. Saijo made the first Indian documentary about Ankylosing Spondlitis patient suffering through ASIF. IDSFFK selected his music video "Lottery Vikkana Josephettan" presentation from "ALL IS WELL" charitable society for differently abled . Majority of the lottery sellers are disabled. But they play the prominent role of contributing to the social welfare of their family and the society through the Karunya lottery-benevolent fund. So the disabled lottery sellers are not zeroes , but in fact they are real heroes. Saijo made 4 short films(Naalathe Bhaghyavan, Amen. Vikalam, Thavalam...chavum Meenum Chavum Chachikuttiyum Chavum ), 2 documentaries (HLAB27, Pambu Jeevitham), advertisement film (Radhayum Rajuvum), music video(Lottery Vikana Josephettan). The main ambition of Saijo Kannanaikkal is to influence the world through creativity. He aims for nothing less than Oscar..Kathakali is the traditional dance form of Kerala. In this film, Kathakali is compared with the society. There are many people who have been ejected from the society due to various reasons. Some of these people live on the shores of the Bharathapuzha River. There are people in search of truth, old people, and physically challenged people and people orphaned by birth. Kathakali depicts the story of a young man who tries to join and create an address within the society. But he fails to do so and returns back to the river Bharatapuzha, whom he considers as his mother, so as to discard all the fabricated deceitful illustrations of the society. The film ends strongly emphasizing the old saying “Kathakali is not meant for the poor & the underprivileged”. The background music for the entire movie is designed with instruments used only for Kathakali. This movie is written and directed by a young man who suffers from the perilous disease, Ankylosing spondylytis and he is 60% physically challenged. The film was also produced by differently abled men.”all is well”
