Pro.
Pro, a silent movie that invites our community to address the hidden issue of Abortion. Through the steps and eyes of 3 women, we are invited into their memory, which chronicles diverse circumstances, leading these women to the same medical room. In an abstract and experimental shooting style, the film captures the effects of suppressing the reality and the damage caused by bearing the torment.

Growing up in the DC Metropolitan Area of Cedar Heights, MD, Narlyia Sterling indulged herself in the art of play, culture and community in her Southern Grandmother's backyard. Starting in the Church, she gained discipline and the love for creativity through liturgical dance, singing and stepping.
Narlyia was bitten by the Acting 'bug' after several years of writing short stories, plays and scenes. As she continued studying Theatre at The Center for Visual and Performing Arts at Suitland High School, Narlyia and her local peers created a Troupe that wrote and performed Community-inspired plays at numerous School Events and Community Centers in the County. With this insatiable bug in performance and creating, she studied with Steve Kent while attending The University of La Verne, in California. Narlyia transferred schools while six months pregnant, in search of a more diverse campus. Her journey sent her to audition for and successfully complete a Bachelors of Fine Arts Degree in Acting at the prestigious Howard University.
It was while working closely with Steve Kent and Daniel Hubbard to create an Urban Theatre course that I discovered the relevance and presence as an African American Female Creator.
Giving birth to my beautiful daughter made me eager to continue storytelling, so 3 other Howard University Acting friends and I sparked Abu! Film Productions in December 2011. Every year we sharpen our skills, daring to Write, Direct, Act and Self-Produce our own Content. I challenge myself in the versatility of film-making by Writing, Producing and Directing. My first film, Pro. begins a communal conversation about the decision of being "Pro - Life or Pro - Choice."
