Blood Empires
"Blood Empires" is a story about family, love, and struggling to rise. Daniel, an unassuming hitman with a secret; Elena an unlikely cop. The Director Peter Joachim, travelled from India, shot first feature in twelve days. A stylized allegory gives a look into the characters’ everyday decisions. The film is a psychological crime drama; deliberate in the embrace of the b-movie 70's crime novel, with a bit of art house mixed in.
The film also features some fantastic supporting cast such as: Walter Alza who played 'Raoul', 50 cent's nemesis in 'Get Rich or Die Tryin'; Jackie Laidlaw who played supporting lead to Sigourney Weaver, Carrie-Anne Moss, and Alan Rickman in 'Snow Cake; and, Jerry Schaefer from 'Tommy Boy', 'Due South', and series regular 'Ed Frid' in 'The Red Green Show'.

A self-taught filmmaker from Bangalore, India. He has been making infomercials and low budget corporate videos since 2007, Operating as a jack-of-all-trades in digital video production he made a name for himself in the city.
Peter worked hard, putting together commercial clientele, ranging from established advertising agencies to learning institutions, and from start-ups to established corporations. Some of his clients were Christ University, Encompass, End2End marketing, Phaseone, Insta-carma, Sobha Developers, Mingle-box etc.
He also made two music videos for independent electronic artists namely Sferro and Acos Coolkas.
Peter is inspired by all aspects of film and digital media, but spent the past seven years saving and working overtime to reach one main goal, shooting a feature film. During this time Peter was searching for the right place and medium to create his dream. He applied to many programs around the world, searching for additional perspective, knowing that his self-taught qualifications, regardless of his voracious self-education in all styles and histories of film, would continually make him a fringe choice. Eventually he was accepted to Sheridan College in Canada. Peter then travelled half way around the world with the hopes of making his first feature.
Peter completed the program at Sheridan without difficulty; his self-education served him well. During the program he met Stevie Jay, a professional actor doing a joint Sheridan/ACTRA (actor’s union), project where Peter was told not to approach the actors. However, Peter’s drive made him take the risk, approaching Stevie Jay and proposing his film idea; the meeting was serendipitous.
After Graduating from the Advanced Film and Television program at Sheridan College in Oakville, Canada. He worked as an intern at The Ogilvy advertising agency as a video production & post-production assistant. He worked on videos for Ontario Technology, Scotia Bank American Express, Dove, and Hellman’s.
As a free-lancer in Toronto City he worked on music videos for Canadian talent such as Danny Fernandez, J-Rod & D-Mic, Rooftop Runners and Gee Wunder. He aslo made marketing videos for Northern Strategic.
Peter worked on all of these projects while doing pre-production for his feature on the side.
Three and a half months after Peter’s graduation, all his work culminated into his first cinematic venture “Blood Empires”, an independent film completely self-funded and shot on a shoe-string budget. Co-written and co-produced along with Stevie Jay, who also happens to play the film’s protagonist. The film boasts a strong cast of 27 emerging and established Canadian actors. The film was shot over a period of 12 days.
He is currently working developing his second feature film.
