Director Biography - Collin Ausbury

My name is Collin Ausbury (19) and I am passionate about film and cinematography. Currently a student at Liberty University where I am entering into the Cinematic Arts program. Film has always been fascinating to me; I've strived since I was young to make an impact on the world, and from what others have told me, I already have. I've been shooting movies since I was in grade school; it's second nature. But I never want to stop learning.

A famous cinematographer who was well in his years once said,"I one day hope to be a cinematographer." After 50+ years of doing what he loved, he realized he would never "make it" as a Cinematographer. The moment you feel like you've "made it" is the end for any professional, no matter what you do. I hope to never see this day - but to daily be completely amazed and enveloped in new stories; stories that are brimming with humanity, just waiting to be shared with the world.

Here's to those who create. May we never lose our sense of wonder.

It's been a long journey to get to this point, but I couldn't be more excited to finally push this out there.

This is a short film that I shot with some friends in an abandoned psychiatric hospital. All the dialogue in this film is unscripted, meaning the reactions are genuine.

Another version of 76 was actually finished months ago, but deep down we knew it had more potential. I knew that it could be something else entirely. So we stripped out the plot and began again. What started as a spontaneous zero budget horror film later turned into a much bigger psychological thriller.

We decided to answer a lot of unanswered questions in the rewrite, as well as leave more questions open to interpretation in not only this film, but in possibly more installments. Consider it an anthology, similar to the Cloverfield films.

Overall, I'm pleased to know some of the most creative people I've ever known and am beyond excited for whatever the future brings - especially in the area of short films. I can't wait to keep creating, sharing, and leaving an impact on those willing to look for something different.
