5 sounds of zen

This film is a humble reflection of my experience with Zen training at the Daihonzan Chozen-ji in Honolulu, Hawaii. I picked 5 sounds that remind me of Zazen, of silence, of sounds that sound like silence, and of sounds that sound more like silence than silence itself. The footage is shot at Chozen-ji’s Budo Dojo: the space we train.

Materials used for sounds: cinnamon stick, singing bowl and mallet, PVC pipe shakuhachi, carbon fiber Shakuhachi, wooden crate.
