Director Statement

I have always believed that a good story can be found by just looking around. There are 7 billion people in this world and there are 7 billion stories to tell.
My intention has always been to create movies that provoke the audience to engage in the mystery of uncertainty, human emotions and intent.
What drew me to this project that inspiration I got from while watching this amazing documentary “Dementia – The Unspooling Mind” by 16X9. I felt very strongly about this and wanted to make a film which would have its own language, both emotionally and structurally.
The vision was to make a film that allowed audiences to feel what I felt when uncertainties force people to part ways no matter how they want to be together.
It was important to me that the audience not go numb in the watching of this film, or to be so torn up that they shut down and stop listening. So, the balancing between the devastation due to separation and the incredible bond of love that they embodied was something I grappled with a lot. The shifting tones among the characters was something I strived for, trying to keep the movie visceral and surprising in its emotion and arc.
To this end, I used all sorts of methods, errors, experiences and found myself inventing things along the way. I tried to create the feeling of nostalgia, shooting visual elements that represented a happy past and the subsequent loss of that world. I have followed an unconventional timeline in my story telling where the whole movie can be divided into three parts where the first part depicts the events on day 1, second part depicts event after few days and third part shows the event that took place on day 2. This was a real challenge as a movie director to express more with emotions with bare use of dialogue and I hope the audience finds it satisfying.
