Born December 1, 1993 in Washington, DC, Malachi Johnson has always had a mind for storytelling and an eye for film. In his younger years he began to write down stories that came in his mind through art and ideas. At the age of 14, his father brought him his first video camera in which he used to record dance sessions with his dance crew in high school. At the age of 17 he started his college career and attended the University of Maryland Eastern Shore, in which he was persistent to earn a degree in Business Management. His first work -study job was working with the campus television channel along with a team of talented individuals to create content for healthy living and lifestyle. This set him on the right path to his true calling and allowed him to see his true potential in media. In the spring of 2014 he became a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity INC. He later changed his major to English literature with a concentration in Telecommunications which lead him joining to the campus news and media group "Discover UMES" in which his media, speaking, and communication skills were enhanced. In the fall of 2016 he graduated from the University with a degree in English Literature, two weeks later he started his first film company HOTG FILMS in which he followed up with a docu-series called the "GEN" series which dealt with gentrification in Washington, DC. after being laid off in March 2017 months after he graduated. He later then realized in order to produce films and series, it took capital in which he didn't have due to being unemployed. While searching for his next job which took about 8 months before he was employed again, the began to teach himself to write scripts in which he wrote numerous which still has yet to see the eyes of the world to the screen. YET. Later the same year he started two more companies; FHAH (For Her and Her Films) for Black women and young Black girls and ONEA FILMS (One Afternoon Films) For minority Children. Both of these new companies in addition to HOTG FILMS aim to uplift, entertain, and inform, and inspire the community, Mainly people of color. In September of 2017, He landed his first Production Assistant Job with stage playwright and Director/ Producer Mike McCorkle. There he meet filmmaker Skinny Corleone who along with Mike and other directors helped him learn the ends and outs of the film and television industry and helped him develop more skill needed to thrive and compete. Malachi Has since been an inspiration to many and has since started writing more projects and has even produced his first web series "GRANDMA'S HOUSE" which is Co-directed by Skinny Corleone and starring an all-start cast. Malachi inspires to be one of the top producers and writers of independent content on the east coast and will always keep the faith work toward his goals of inspiring others and making a difference in the world.
