ONLY FOR SHORT FILMS OF 4:3 ASPECT RATIO

Ivano-Frankivsk International Short Film Festival 4:3 is an non-profit film festival which takes place annually in Ivano-Frankivsk, Ukraine.

The festival focuses on the niche of the 4:3 aspect ratio. The goal of the festival is to increase the audience of independent cinema in Prykarpattia region, to popularize the 4:3 format which recently has been increasingly used by authors as a meaningful aesthetic solution.

The festival is dedicated to presenting current Ukrainian and international film productions in 4:3 aspect ratio: docs, fiction, animated, experimental films and music videos.

The idea of holding the festival arose due to the vacuum of such initiatives in the city, as well as the desire to create a more "grassroots" than "official" event that would promote current Ukrainian and international cinema and would be open to local communities.

Awards & Prizes

Ivano-Frankivsk International Short Film Festival 4:3 has two competition programs: National and International. The competition films will be evaluated by the jury and awarded with the main competition prize. Each member of the jury can award one film with a special mention.

Please, notice that there are no cash prizes, the winners of the main prizes will receive original trophies.

Rules & Terms

The films eligible for the selection should meet the following criteria:

- 4:3 aspect ratio throughout the film's runtime;
- completed after January 1, 2023 (except music videos);
- English subtitles;
- under 30’;

For Ukrainian authors who are going to submit their films / videos in the Architecture and Urbanism and Music Video categories: send us a request by email (4x3isff@gmail.com), we will send an entry fee waiver code, so you can submit for free.

Additional conditions:

- we do accept student works;
- you can submit as many works as you want;
- feel free to request a waiver code if you can explain the reason for it;
- the person submitting the film gives their permission to screen the film during the festival and during other events promoting the festival arranged by the organiser.

Fees and deadlines:

Early Bird Deadline - January 31, 2024 (free of charge)
Regular Deadline - May 15, 2024 (5$ student fee, 10$ standard fee)
Late Bird Deadline - June 21, 2024 (10$ student fee, 15$ standard fee)
