4 Seasons. Portraits of Bulgarian Painters
“We have our spring, our summer, our autumn and our winter. And every season is for us a piece of life that we are preparing to live and that will not return. Says a lot about our rapport with time.”
These thoughts of Albert Camus are the inspiration behind ‘4 Seasons’ – a documentary portrait anthology about contemporary Bulgarian painters Desislava Deneva–Dedé, Dinko Stoev, Svilen Stefanov and Yana Kostadinova. By selecting these artists, hugely different in terms of style, sensibility and character, the anthology attempts to illuminate the unexpected breadth of modern Bulgarian art and the persons who define its presence on the international culture scene.

Special Screenings
I was born on the snowy winter morning of February 13, 1956, accidentally in the town Medkovets, Bulgaria, where my father had been elected as a municipal councillor. I grew up in Bulgaria's capital Sofia, where I'm based to this day.
I developed a passion for the theater at the age of 7, and as I also loved French culture, I went on to graduate from the French Language High School in Sofia and then from the National Academy of Theater and Film Arts “Krastyo Sarafov” (NATFA).
My professional career began in 1980 as a director at the Drama Theatre "Krum Kyulyavkov" in the town of Kyustendil. In 1985 I started working at the Bulgarian National Television, where I remained until 1999, directing various TV shows and films. I have additional qualification in film and television production and directing from the Paris 8 University and in television and film directing from France 2 television.
In 1997 I founded my own company Pandi Art Production. Through it I have produced film projects in a number of genres and formats, and in co-production with partners from Belgium, France, Spain and Russia. Though I've been focusing on documentaries over the years, my latest project is a drama feature that I'm about to shoot in the summer of 2023.
