Mark has made films since childhood, starting on a Super-8 camera and scarring his fingers editing the reels.
As an young adult he juggled his own filmmaking with being a PROMAX Award-winning promo producer/director, creating hundreds of hours of broadcast promotional material for the likes of Disney, Nickelodeon, five, National Geographic, Paramount and Fremantle. Here, Mark developed his skills as a storyteller; playing with audience expectations and honing a command of style, mood and tone.
A professional freelance Director for the past 8 years and one half of South East London-based Joker’s Pack Productions since the end of 2012, Mark has wide-ranging experience in short drama, music video (primarily narrative) and documentary. He has directed for clients all across the US, Europe, Asia and Arabia, has had his work broadcast internationally, and his shorts have played in competition at film festivals around the world. His works have won him numerous awards for directing as well as cinematography (sometimes lensing films himself) from the likes of The New York Festival and Houston Worldfest, and have also sold at the likes of the Cannes Film Festival.
Mark's films have often been noted for their bold visuals, sly dialogue, uncompromising approach to difficult subject matter and a focus atmosphere - but he often instills a sense of fun or tongue-in-cheek humour.
As well as completing his latest self-written short film NEON - a high-concept fantasy/thriller that will have its World Premiere at noted genre film festival Horror Channel FrightFest - short films Ferried, Animus and The Verge are also due for completion between August 2016 and January 2017. Mark is currently developing his debut feature film The Siren, The Captain, The Sea - a psychological thriller due to shoot in Spring or Summer 2017 - and action/thriller Teardrop.
