Experiencing Interruptions?

Hypnagogic Spirographia

This is a short video about the boundary between wakefulness and sleep.

Sometimes, I think that is where I live most of my life, straddling that boundary, never awake, yet still not asleep.

Hypnagogic or hypnopompic hallucinations are visual, tactile, auditory, or other sensory events, usually brief but occasionally prolonged, that occur at the transition from wakefulness to sleep (hypnagogic) or from sleep to wakefulness (hypnopompic). When we are in the hypnagogic state, we sometimes experience hypnagogic twitches, or slight muscle spasms.

'Hypnagogic Spirographia' is another excerpt from my up-coming installation work, '26 Suicides'.

26 Suicides is a 27 chapter, non-narrative new media installation art work. It is the personal and intimate testimony of my synesthetic life.
The 26 Suicides installation uses 10 audio (surround) sound channels and 8 video channels to deliver an enveloping, synesthetic experience.

This video is an excerpt. It is a single channel video with stereo audio, offering a taste of the installation.

Director Biography - BK

BK makes dangerous modern art.

As a synesthete, BK experiences sound and vision as a jumbled, blended mix. The art is all about trying to externalize that experience.
