Director Statement

I heard the story of Carmen long time ago.I somehow felt that this character has an active personality, claims life experiences, and longs for an unrestrained life and brave free love instead of the security and stability ordinary people tend to pursue. when I did Sino-foreign film co-production creation and research. After I finished my modern dance documentary feature Taste of Body, I boldly chose the Carmen story as the starting point of my film creative journey .o ensure quality within a limited budget, we insisted to invite my colleagues from Austria, Germany and the United States whom I have been cooperating with in the long years of my film co-production career and formed an international crew to collaborate on Beijing Carmen. With enthusiasm and sincerity, our team created a modern version of the Carmen love story with a combination of the Western modern dance and the Oriental aboriginal dance elements. I hope the audience will love it.
