Flabby Hoffman's Radio Extravagonzo

Musician, producer, promoter, writer, director and performer on the underground scene in Chicago, Flabby Hoffman has chiseled a diminutive empire in Chicago geared towards creating a home spun revolution based on the empowering of what’s good in people. His local weekly cable TV series has given opportunities for thousands of creative types to have their voices heard on their own terms that have otherwise been completely marginalized by the mainstream corporate culture. He has produced, edited and created elements of what amounts to over 1000 hours of television in the country’s third largest market.

Additionally he has promoted and booked over 1000 shows on both the rock and comedy circuits in Chicago, performed hundreds of times with his incendiary group The Flabby Hoffman Trio, wrote a book called The Avant Guardian that is as mind blowing as any literary piece in history and created an AM radio series that in just over a year has featured over 1200 guests even though it is only on for 3 hours a week.

His affinity for the avant garde, subversive and anti-establishment subjects along with his combining of the profane and profound has earned him a special place in the hearts and minds of the creative community in Chicago…but has also made him an enemy of the state. His philosophy of questioning authority publicly and providing a raw and radical alternative to the mainstream perspective has earned him investigations under The Patriot Act, having his website labelled as “unsafe” by Facebook for over a year, numerous home invasions, slashed tires, smash and grabs, emails that don’t get delivered, phone calls that wont connect…the whole COINTELPRO deluxe package. Why is this man being “contained” so heavily by the powers that be? Because contrary to the old phrase “what you don’t know can’t hurt you” the reality is what you don’t know can’t help you either.
