Honorable Mention
When I was one month old my family immigrated to the United States from Argentina so that my father could develop his photography business. At an early age I understood the opportunities afforded us and I eventually became the first in my family to attend college and earn my bachelor’s degree in Information Technology. I thus began my career as an I.T. professional, a field in which I had worked for more than a decade.
I had always known deep within myself that I have more to offer, and more to personally experience in my life. I have also held longstanding passions for travel, discovery and photography which had consistently left me with an impulse to branch out beyond the confines of where a typical “job” might leave me. Unsatisfied with the prospect of spending the rest of my career in corporate I.T., I left the field shortly after the birth of my daughter, Adella, and enrolled in Graduate School in the Technology, Media and Society program at the University of Colorado in Boulder. Through this program, I have developed an interest in addressing the impacts of climate change – specifically on Arctic and Alpine communities. As a communicator, my desire is to help tell the stories of people directly affected by climate change as well as those who are on the front lines of scientific climate research.
