In Factory Hands, I felt it was important to go back to Lewis Hine and show how much – or how little - society has evolved. Told through the eyes of the very people who were worst affected, I felt a simple dramatic incident told from the perspective of young boy working in a Cotton Mill, would give me the chance to explore the theme in a compelling and entertaining way.
How would Lewis Hine and his contemporaries have been judged if he had stood idly by and allowed creativity and scientific progress to be eradicated for an entire generation? How will history judge us if we do the very same in the 21st Century?
