Director Biography - Paulo Menezes

Born in 1977 in Bristol. In 1995, he studied drawing at the National Fine Arts Society. In the following years he attended several courses of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, Animated Film, illustration and Volumes Animation. Graduated from National School of Theatre and Cinema 1997/2000, specializing in cinematography. Had training in Television and Video on National Television Station - SIC with Ricardo Freitas and Jorge Costa. Attended two workshops of Cinematography, one with Eduardo Serra AFC / ASC as an observer and one as a participant filming an exercise proposed by John Bailey ASC. In 2004 attended a Master Class about Volumes Animation by Pascal Le Notre's from Folimage. In 2005 he participated in a Cinematography Workshop and post production in Digital in Avanca Festival with Juan Diego Solanas AFC. He was awarded at the International Festival of Vila do Conde 2006, at the International Festival Indie Lisboa 2009 and in Marilia film show in Rio de Janeiro, 2012.

Director Statement

I hereby leave some thoughts on this short film. The film is an experience in order to realize a dialogue between two artists in the design of a painting. The different perspectives and their consequences in the act of creating. As the theory of complexity of Edgar Morin knowledge organization can determine our choices in life, in that reflection is the art.
