Tertiary Trap

‘Tertiary Trap’ refers to the main character Mysterio’s occupation as an aspiring serial killer.

Mysterio works in maintenance at a university but this is a front for his true vocation as a psychopath. Although he is dedicated to his work his dreams of serial killer stardom are hindered by his chronic asthma.

Neville is an underachieving student at the university who has never successfully completed a single course; he has an eating disorder and snacks constantly throughout the day. Neville unwittingly catches Mysterio in the act and a chase begins. Trapped inside the Universitys emergency exit stairwell, Neville proves to be challenging prey for the inexperienced Mysterio.

The film is a black comedy. That meshes the visual humour style of Chaplin and Harpo Marx with the tropes of the teen slasher flick. Influences include the work of directors Edgar Wright and Sam Raimi.
