Experiencing Interruptions?

Souffle Provisoire

Souffle Provisoire is an experimental mouvement/dance film inspired by the French novelist, Françoise Sagan’s book "Les merveilleux nuages". Filmed in Nice France against the Mediterranean scenery and Sea, it draws inspiration from its surroundings and natural elements.

The film focuses on the use of dance as a medium to express emotion and the actions of love and the amorous psyche. The original book finds the female character enmeshed in a marriage, a perverse relationship that has her isolated from her former social network and has all but extinguished her zest for life.

Beneath her despairing cynicism remains an unquenchable spark of spontaneous gaiety, an enduring joie de vivre; the sensual pleasures of the sun, the wind, and the ocean.
As long as these things can be felt, a naïve, basic joy in living remains, "a souffle provisoire", like a childlike spirit.

The psychological struggles of the couple reach an empty truce: Having killed their love, they are too exhausted to part from each other.
