Kate Reid is a former theatre arts student from Unionville High School in Markham, Canada. Her theatre studies encouraged story-telling and creative thinking which segued wonderfully with her deliberate and stylish illustration skills. Kate has an ability to tell a story in one frame, learned techniques from her favourite animators, Hayao Miyazaki and Tim Burton. Her constant connection with the global art community is a particular source of inspiration; famous and unknown artists alike constructing, deconstructing and creatively fostering thoughtful and beautiful art.
At 20, Kate is excited about the future, looking to be deeply involved in animation, illustration and original character development in an industry that has been a constant source of inspiration. She is currently studying at Max The Mutt School of Animation, Art & Design in Toronto. When she is not possessed by pen and paper, quill and quire, stylus and tablet, she is walking in a maple forest at Ravenswood or enjoying her two rescue dogs, Chester and Devo. Kate’s beautiful rats, Keaton & Chaplin are always close by.
