Randall LaRue started out in the indie music scene as both a songwriter and music video director for 15 years. He made the jump to narrative filmmaking in 2012 and worked on the first season of the Lone Star Emmy-nominated program, Hardly Sound, on Austin PBS. Since then, he has written and directed multiple short films and two feature films. He also co-founded the film collective Dual Tape Deck in Austin, TX.
Indie bands are a rare breed of individuals who give up normal lives and choose to live in a van for weeks or months at a time, more often than not losing money in the process. I myself did it for a number of years and wouldn't trade that time for anything. With this film, I wanted to pay tribute to those bands that I shared the stage with and capture what life on the road means for an indie band today without financial or logistical support. I wanted to use music to capture experiences and tell stories where words would fail, and make a coming-of-age story for people in their 20s, still trying to find out where they belong in the world.
