The Story of Sputnik

Ostensibly an educational film about the first artificial satellite, THE STORY OF SPUTNIK quickly derails into a stream-of-consciousness ramble on Russians, the Cold War and Charlton Heston. May actually contain some facts. Definitely contains some little cartoons.

Director Statement

The script for THE STORY OF SPUTNIK was dashed off quickly and changed very little between first draft and shooting script. In retrospect, I see that the two main influences in writing it came from my childhood in the 60s and 70s, namely, Cold War paranoia and Monty Python's Flying Circus. I kind of miss both.
