The Olympians

The main story line of the show follows Jacob Miller, played by Loyal Thomas Ruddell, who is just arriving on the Olympic Peninsula. Jacob is trying to run from his past and escape his father's shadow and disapproval. His father is a famous sheriff in the old west, and he comes to the 'Far West' under his mother's maiden name to escape his father's reputation and start a life on his own. He never lived up to his father's expectations and was always disappointing him and getting into trouble.

Renewal, rebirth, rebuilding, are all broad themes that are shared by all of the character groups in the beginning of season one. Then we will follow the characters and progress with them through struggle, conflict, loss, and resolutions.

And the young Native American man, played by Charles McKeen III, is sent on a journey to discover his calling. For him it is a time of discovery and change, of growth and rebirth. He finds the strength within himself that he has been searching for, and struggles to use it to help his people in their changing situation with the encroaching State. He is also a young man with thoughts of a family and struggles to reconcile the ways of his people with his changing environment.

Then there is Port Crescent, which isn't featured until episode two, that is something of a character itself. Of course this is a fictional series, so it's only based on the real town, but I'm trying to draw from real history as much as I can. The boom town that never booms, the seedy territorial port town with a chip on it's shoulder and determined to makes it's mark on history no matter what the cost. It's a perfect canvas for all manners of colorful characters and dynamic conflicts. The railroad is barreling forward( as seen in Hell on Wheels) and the founders of Port Crescent are banking heavily on the railroad stopping at their Port, therefor establishing it as a major city in the eminent State. But what if they don't come?

Director Biography - Ryan A. Herring

I'm a self taught filmmaker who started in 2005 learning general video production, moved to doing events and weddings in 2007, and in 2012 made the move to writing and directing original narrative content. I have a lot of scripts and ideas in development, and I'm looking for representation as a writer/director.
