WATER CYCLE

Men sit on the toilet and reading a newspaper. A closer look at the newspaper reveals the title of the article: DRINKING WATER, OUR TREASURE. Under the title is a great photo of Proteus, blind cave salamander.

Male pulls the water. Into the toilet bowl to make a vortex, which disappears in the esophagus. Faeces traveling through different pipes down until it splashed into the water in the underground caves, where the sewer pipe runs. Look to drop below the water and clouds, together with the resultant passes through the water on, past the human fish, which scares the cloud that wanders. Dirt is moving forward with the flow all the way to the suction hose to pump water near sucked turbid cloud. The captured water is now rising up the pipe, through the pump and various valves at plumbing, until lightly tap from which water drips.

The same man who had earlier pulled the water in the toilet, open the tap, pour you a glass of water and drink it thirsty.

Director Biography - Ciril Mlinar Cic

I do video, film and photography as well as underwater exploration and karst caves exploration. I make primarily natural history films, along with scripts and directing. I specialize in underwater and cave photo- graphy as well as video and film. I am the author of films, TV programmes, multivision, and numerous publications, especially in the field of underwater and cave world. I was the first to film the proteus and numerous cave animals in their natural environment. Out of my rich opus of films and pictures of nature I composed a series of short films that represent the entire underwater and cave world of Slovenia. I introduce the less known and newly discovered environments to school children and students as well as to wider audience of all generations in live image, lectures and projections. Presentations are being currently upgraded as Cicfilm produces new films all the time.

Explanation

Drinking water is becoming a major problem of the Third Millennium. The planet is overpopulated, we are choking in our own waste and our attitude towards the environment is catastrophically poor, leading to self-destruction!

The negligent man sitting on the toilet symbolizes man's attitude towards the environment (negligence, short-sightedness) and towards water. Drinking water is diminishing, but nevertheless we persistently continue to burden it with our waste. The cycle that water makes is quickly concluded and the filth goes back directly to the surroundings of our water sources and into our glasses!

The film Water Cycle is intended as a contribution to increased concern for clean drinking water, which is largely pumped from underground water sources and indirectly for the conservation of biodiversity in karst caves. This film, which is shocking and somewhat humorous, but relevant and understandable to everyone, will impact viewers of all ages...
