Born in the Bahamas, he is the product of a mixed marriage; His mother a talented actress and his father a popular DJ. Growing up wanting to be an actor and singer in The Bahamas, Tony quickly realized that his main goal will be to relocate to the United States to pursue his love and passion. With numerous setbacks, including a failed investment, an armed robbery in which his car was taken at gunpoint and being infected with a deadly form of food poisoning, he was close to suicide but decided to fight for his life with the help of a friend. Today, Tony is the biggest known and respected actor in his country; performing in nearly 2 dozen projects in less than 5 years including stage plays, TV shows and films most notably "Casino Royale" and "Into The Blue".
Ten years ago, I wrote a script titled “This Life”; A large Hollywood type film that required huge expensive props that only a Hollywood studio would have access to. I was just a young actor starting out back then with little resources and little connections to make such a project come to light. I was hellbent to have this film made the way it was written or not do it at all. The film was inspired by a group of friends I met working at a local financial institution where I was exposed to a different lifestyle, where money was accessible and was exposed to luxurious environments I was never used to. Hence the idea to build the plot around a group of Bahamian males exposed to a life of crime and reaping the benefits of an illegal trade.
Robert Campbell (played by me) starts off the story, a young college going male in New Providence stuck with the task of taking care of his single blind mother. He is later fired from his job and is then hired by drug kingpin, Ricardo Chase (played by Jeffery Mackey). After being hired, Robert also gets his neighborhood friends "Joker" (Played by Patrick Deveaux) and "Chimney"(played by Deangelo Brown) involved in the trade. We then watch as these three enjoy the highlife until it all comes crashing down eventually.
"I had such a great time shooting this film not just because it was my first time launching a production company (TMac Productions), but getting to finally do something after a year of no jobs and callbacks. After I returned from a film festival in Miami (Widescreen Film Festival 2015), it felt as if a light had switched off and my career went into darkness. I had to get up and do something about it. This film is one of a kind, a brilliant witty written piece and I argue one of the best Bahamian films made today in terms of execution and storyline.
There are so many persons I am grateful for. Namely Paul Arahna, Eric Gibson, Kent Minnis, Moya Thompson, Bernie Russell and my entire cast of about 18 persons for making this ten year dream finally come to reality. And my fans who constantly support me when I'm not feeling confident. In the future, TMac Productions hopes to revolutionize the Bahamian film and media industry and hopefully inspire local filmmakers to return to the industry that they have seemed to turn their backs on.
